Diamond Jewelry Faqs

1. What makes Glorious Jewelers different from other jewelry stores?

With 15+ years in the industry, we combine old-world craftsmanship with modern design sensibilities. Every piece is quality-inspected by our in-house certified gemologists before it reaches you. We offer personalized consultations, custom design services, lifetime maintenance programs, and a transparent buying process, giving you confidence and peace of mind with every purchase.

2. Do you have a physical store or showroom?

Yes, we do! You’re welcome to visit our showroom at 8140 N MacArthur Blvd 120, Irving, TX 75063, United States, where you can explore our jewelry collections in person, try on your favorite pieces, and receive guidance from our jewelry experts. We also offer custom design consultations for those looking to create something unique. If you prefer shopping from home, our online store provides a convenient and secure way to browse and purchase our jewelry.

3. Are your gemologists and jewelry professionals certified?

Absolutely. All gemologists at Glorious Jewelers hold certifications from recognized institutions such as the Gemological Institute of America (GIA) or equivalent. Our craftsmen have 10–20+ years of hands-on experience in fine jewelry design and repair, ensuring the highest standards at every step.

4. How do I find my correct ring size?

The most accurate way to determine your ring size is to visit our showroom for a complimentary professional sizing. At home, you can use a flexible measuring tape or a strip of paper to measure the circumference of your finger in millimeters, then refer to our standard size chart. Keep in mind that fingers can swell in heat and shrink in cold; we recommend measuring mid-day for the most accurate reading. We also offer a complimentary first-time resizing on all ring purchases.

5. Can I resize my ring after purchase?

Yes. Glorious Jewelers offers ring resizing for most styles. Simple band rings can typically be sized up or down by 2–3 sizes. Rings with intricate eternity settings, full pave settings, or specific gemstone placements may have resizing limitations due to their design. We will assess your ring and advise you before any work begins. One complimentary resizing is included with every ring purchase within the first year.

6. What is the difference between an engagement ring, a promise ring, and a wedding band?

An engagement ring is typically given at the time of a marriage proposal and often features a prominent center stone. A promise ring symbolizes commitment or a meaningful milestone and is usually simpler in design. A wedding band is exchanged during the wedding ceremony and is traditionally a plain or lightly decorated band worn alongside the engagement ring. At Glorious Jewelers, we offer all three with matching sets and customization options.

7. What is a tennis bracelet and why is it so popular?

A tennis bracelet is a flexible, in-line bracelet featuring a continuous row of identically set gemstones, most commonly diamonds, linked together by a delicate metal setting. The name originates from a famous incident in professional tennis. Tennis bracelets are enormously popular because they are elegant yet versatile, suitable for both everyday wear and special occasions. At Glorious Jewelers, we carry diamond, sapphire, emerald, and ruby tennis bracelets in various carat weights.

8. Are your earrings suitable for sensitive ears?

Yes. We understand that many customers have sensitivities to certain metals. Our earrings made from 18K gold, platinum, and certified sterling silver are excellent choices for sensitive ears, as they are hypoallergenic and do not contain nickel or common irritants. We clearly label the metal composition of every earring, and our consultants can help you choose the safest option for your skin type.

9. What is the difference between stud and huggie earrings?

Stud earrings sit directly on the earlobe without any drop or dangle. They are secured by a push-back or screw-back fastener and are ideal for everyday wear due to their low-profile design. Huggie earrings are small hoop earrings that ‘hug’ the earlobe closely; they have a hinged closure and often feature small diamonds or gemstones around the entire hoop. Both are timeless staples in any jewelry collection.

10. How do I care for my pearl earrings?

Pearls are organic gems that require special attention. Always put pearl earrings on last, after applying perfume, hairspray, and cosmetics; chemicals can damage the pearl coating. Wipe pearls gently with a soft, dry cloth after each wear to remove body oils and perspiration. Store pearl earrings separately in a soft pouch, away from other jewelry that may scratch them. Never clean pearls with ultrasonic cleaners, chemicals, or abrasive cloths. Bring your pearls to us annually for professional cleaning.

11. What is the difference between a necklace and a pendant?

A pendant is a decorative piece that hangs from a chain or cord; it is the focal point or ‘charm’ that makes the necklace special. A necklace refers to the entire piece, which includes both the chain and the pendant. You can purchase pendants separately and mix them with different chains in our collection, or buy them as a set for a coordinated look.

12. How do I know if a diamond is real and certified?

All diamonds sold by Glorious Jewelers are certified by internationally recognized grading laboratories such as GIA, IGI, or AGS. Each certified diamond comes with a grading report detailing the 4Cs: Cut, Color, Clarity, and Carat Weight. We do not sell uncertified diamonds for engagement or significant jewelry pieces. Our gemologists are happy to explain the certificate and help you understand what you are purchasing.

13. What is the difference between 14K and 18K gold?

The ‘K’ refers to the purity of gold. 24K is pure gold, but it is too soft for jewelry. 18K gold is 75% pure gold mixed with 25% other metals, giving it a rich color and moderate durability, ideal for fine jewelry. 14K gold is 58.5% pure gold, making it harder, more scratch-resistant, and slightly more affordable, a popular choice for everyday wear. Both are excellent choices; 18K suits special occasion pieces, while 14K is perfect for daily-wear jewelry.

14. What are the 4Cs of a diamond and why do they matter?

The 4Cs are the universal standard for assessing diamond quality. Cut determines how well the diamond reflects light and its sparkle, generally considered the most important of the four. Color grades diamonds from D to Z. Clarity measures the presence of internal inclusions or external blemishes, graded from Flawless to Included. Carat is the weight of the diamond. Understanding the 4Cs helps you make an informed choice and get the best value for your budget.

15. How should I store my jewelry to prevent damage?

Store each piece separately to prevent scratching; softer gems like opals, pearls, and emeralds scratch easily when they come into contact with harder stones. Use individual soft pouches, a lined jewelry box with compartments, or hang necklaces to prevent tangling. Keep your jewelry away from direct sunlight, humidity, and heat, which can fade colored gemstones and warp certain metals. We recommend storing fine jewelry in a cool, dry place.

16. Do you offer jewelry insurance or appraisals?

We provide professional jewelry appraisals for all pieces purchased at Glorious Jewelers and for third-party pieces upon request. An appraisal certificate documents the description, metal, gemstone details, and replacement value of your jewelry, essential for insurance purposes. We recommend updating your appraisal every 3–5 years as jewelry values fluctuate. We do not provide insurance directly, but we will gladly help you work with your insurance provider.
